General Anesthesia

Many major operations are performed under general anesthesia.  This means that the patient will be unconscious and have no awareness of the surgical procedure. General anesthesia is provided with a combination of inhaled medications and intravenous medications.  The combination of intravenous and inhaled medications will be individualized to the patient based on age, weight, medical conditions, and the type of surgery.   Patient’s electrocardiogram, respiratory patterns, oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, blood pressure, and anesthetic gas levels are continuously monitored with state of the art technology.  Safety, comfort, and a quick recovery from anesthesia are a top priority.
